Coldworking

Do you have a cup/vessel that doesn't quite sit straight or have a punty mark sticking out? This 3 hour introductory class will teach students how to grind down glass using diamond covered wheels and a belt sander. This class is meant to introduce students, in a shortened format, to what we call the cold shop- all of the machines used to grind, cut, engrave, and sandblast into glass. You will learn how to safely use our cold working equipment: including the lathe, belt sander, and lap wheel. The goal of this class is to learn how to make your punty marks disappear. Take a messy punty mark and turn it into a  beautiful polished lense or shiny flattened bottom.

Please bring your Respirator if you have one otherwise a safety mask mask will be provided, wear closed-toed (possibly waterproof) shoes and clothes that can get wet. A water bottle is recommended.

After taking this class please look into taking coldworking level 1 which will enable you to rent the cold shop on your own.
