Service Description

Session dates: April 12th- April 26( 3 weeks) Prerequisite is Level 4 or level 5 or equivalent of 1-2 years of glass experience This is section 3 of 3 Section 3 will wrap up by teaching how to make a blown bottle top and a solid bottle stoppers to fit into the bottles made in section 2. The last day of the class we will go over how to grind down the solid bottle stopper to nest into the top of the bottle using grit in the coldshop. This is weekly class running 6 weeks on Tues from 6:30-9:30 or Thurs 6:30-9:30pm and Sunday from 12:30-3:30pm. All 3 classes have the same curriculum which will include demonstrations in each class followed by hands on practice time for the students. Students may switch to the Tues/ Thurs class based on availability if you cannot make a class on sunday. Syllabus Section 3 : Put a stopper on that Week 1 Sun April 12, Tues April 14, and Thurs April 16 ** Students bring a bottle that you would like to have a bottle stopper for measurements Demo: Blown Bottle stopper- demo how to measure inside of bottle and how to set up calibers Exercise: Students pull blown bottle stopper + punty and fit bottle stopper to fit any of previous made bottle Goal for students how to measure and fit in a blown bottle stopper done completely in the hotshop Week 2 Sun April 19, Tues April 21, and Thurs April 23 Solid Bottle Stopper- solid glass- avolio and blown finial topper- stopper Exercise: Students build solid/ bottle stopper Goal for students how to start with solid glass and add on a blown or solid bits Week 3 Sun April 26, Tues April 28, and Thurs April 25 Demo: demo in the cold shop how to grind in solid bottle stopper using grit to tight fit Exercise: Students design your own stopper in the hotshop
