Flameworking
Flame working is endless in its creative possibility. Similar to glassblowing but on the micro level, flame working for most is not a physically challenging process, although it does require a degree of eye-hand coordination and concentration. We'll help you learn to make small-scale sculptural objects and vessels, as well as wearable art like beads, pendants and other jewelry components. After you've received approval by one of our instructors, you'll be certified to rent studio time to work on your own projects.

The flame working set up, including torch, glass rod, mandrels and tools. Begin by selecting colored glass cane or rod. Slowly heat the rod, then melt it onto a mandrel.
The glass around the mandrel has a hole in it and is the ideal start for a bead. Add other colors, or use different techniques to add visual interest to make a unique bead. Make several and create a necklace or bracelet.
Or try melting the rod onto another piece of cane and building up rows and layers... to make small vessels ... in a variety of shapes and sizes, or ...
rings, or even ...  small sculptural items.  Cool your finished piece slowly to remove the stress.
